The simple answer is 

"Per mile traveled, there are about 8x more fatalities per mile flying General Aviation (GA) airplanes than there are driving.

Similar rates exist if compared 'per hour' or 'per vehicle'

But only about 1/2 as many fatalities per mile as motorcycles.
